Universal Audio is a leading American manufacturer of microphone preamplifiers, compressors, audio interfaces, and DSP cards. The company was founded by Bill Putnam Sr. in the 1950s and has gone through several names over the years, such as Urei and Teletronix. Today's Universal Audio is run by Putnam's sons, Jim and Bill Putnam Jr. The company's goal is to recreate the classic analog music equipment their father produced, but also to develop and design new products of a similar nature.
