SBX core is the heart of the SessionbloX family. Designed as a modular building block, it makes it easy to build, adapt, and customize your studio’s acoustics. With its unique tool-free X-Connector system, the same panels can be used to build multiple setups, from control room to vocal booths and wheeled gobos, all with seamless integration.
The SBX core is a high-performance broadband absorber. Engineered as a multilayer absorption panel, it achieves significantly higher efficiency than conventional mineral wool or foam panels of similar dimensions. Its balanced absorption profile avoids the acoustic fatigue common in materials that over-absorb specific frequency ranges. In freestanding configurations, SBX core panels deliver effective absorption down to 100Hz, and when paired back-to-back, reach as low as 50Hz in both real-world testing and laboratory measurements.
Placement plays a key role in how the SBX core shapes your acoustics. Some setups call for two panels stacked vertically, others work best front to back. Building a vocal booth? Stack them up. Treating first reflections on your control room? Try positioning one panel in front of another. Two vertical panels share the same height as three horizontal panels, so numerous structures can be built.
Built with a wood fiber insulation core and birch plywood frame finished in Sessiondesk’s signature 90s black. The acoustic PET facing is a fire-rated high-performance absorber made from at least 60% recycled plastic bottles. The SBX laso is a colored accent line that comes in two standard colors, green and grey. Customizable SBX laso and PET color are available through Custom Shop.
